“And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”
Ephesians 5:2
As a Christian, the purpose of your existence and functionality on the earth has been shown you in the word of God, he called you to be like Jesus, and that’s easy because you already have his life and Spirit indwelling you:
“God always does what he has promised to do. And God has chosen you to know Christ. He has made you join to his Son, Jesus Christ, who is our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9, Easy English
And in your walking as the Lord would, he expects that you are as selfless as he is- not vengeful. As you study God’s word, it should interest you to learn how Jesus dealt with situations, so you would act accordingly when the opportunity presents itself. Look at this Jesus, and his behaviour towards the betrayer and traitor:
“After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded” John 13:5
“And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come?…” Matthew 26:50
Look at this Jesus, and his behaviour towards his murderers:
“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do…” Luke 23:34
This is the behaviour God expects you to have towards everybody; so he lives in you, to enable you be that way easily.
