“He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.”
Acts 24:26

The Bible tells us:
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world…” 1 John 2:15
Don’t love the things in the world; they are not of the father— not even one! And so he emphasizes:
“…whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” James 4:4
See how God has no respect for the grandiose creations of men in infrastructure, technology etc. because at the end of time; all will be burnt by fire:
“…the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10
And because you know that is true; have no deep personal affiliation with the world- it’s not worth it! (2 Peter 3:11) Don’t get carried away with the seeming wisdom and glory of men that you begin to forget or de-emphasize the wisdom and glory of God!
Jesus said:
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other…” Matthew 6:24, Luke 16:13
“…If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
That’s his diagnosis; put away idolatry from your life, and fix your gaze solely on the Jesus, his word and our kingdom!
