Service last Sunday was explosive, we were gloriously inspired to take the word of God more seriously and trained to effectively apply the word to our lives.
Pastor began by teaching us that every purposeful life has a destination and on the journey to that destination, there are different stops, addresses and locations, some more temporary than others, spiritually, every Christian has a destiny, a God-given purpose for their life and everyday, we move towards the fulfilment of that purpose, as Christians, there is a permanent place we dwell in and that place is in Christ, however in Christ, there are different locations or addresses, some more permanent than the others just as there are different levels on a mountain and we dwell in Mount Zion. Pastor taught us that through the word, we can know where we are, where we ought to be and how to navigate ourselves to our desired or expected locations.
We learnt from Jesus by observing how his destiny and his purpose was clear to him, everything he did was traced to a spiritual address and because he knew this, it influenced every of his actions and experiences, likewise, having being born of the word, we have our location in the word.
“In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.” Hebrews 10:6-7
Pastor went on to show us several instances where occurrences in Jesus’ life matched a location in the scripture, we saw that his birth, his entry into and exit out of Egypt, his healing ministry and his reaction when he found that the temple had been turned into a place of merchandize were all as prophesied in the scriptures by Isaiah, Hosea and David, we saw the same with John the Baptist when he was questioned as to who he was, he went back to the prophets and found out his spiritual location, who he was, a voice crying in the wilderness and he stayed in that location, when we get born again, our location is in Christ and Christ is the word of God, through the word of God, we can find out our current address in that location and move as we need to.
“Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.” 1 Peter 1:10-12
The prophets spoke of things pertaining to us; knowing that everything that was said about Jesus was true and they all came to pass, we can be assured that everything said about us is true, Pastor however reminded us that there were men in the scriptures who did not fulfil God’s plan for their lives because of their actions and inactions, teaching us that it is our responsibility to use the word of God to navigate ourselves to where we ought to be per time.
Pastor spent the rest of the service showing us some examples in the word as she practically taught us how to trace our spiritual locations in the word of God through observing our physical mannerisms, we learnt how to make necessary adjustments in locating ourselves in God’s will for our lives.
