“that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;”
Philippians 2:15
Look at his description of the ‘sons of God’; he says they are blameless and harmless, Jesus told his disciples:
“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore… harmless as doves.” Matthew 10:16
And he himself is harmless and blameless:
“For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless…” Hebrews 7:26
Now he expects you to be harmless not violent or vengeful, even if you have every reason to be. No matter the persecution or mockery you might face, he gives a fervent instruction:
“bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.” Luke 6:28
So in a world where payback and wickedness can be publicized as a reflection of strength, always remember it is the man that has the word in him and does the word that is strong:
“…because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you…” 1 John 2:14
