“Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”
2 Timothy 1:13
Jesus said it matters what you hear and how you hear. After you’ve heard the word, decide to use and do the word.
Hold fast the word of God in faith, the Bible tells us of the children of Israel:
“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” Hebrews 4:2
The word did not profit them because they didn’t hear in faith. When the word of God comes to you, believe what he says and respond:
“We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;” 2 Corinthians 4:13
Even before you listen to the word, decide that you will believe what God says and act accordingly, and why not? The word is replete with examples of how simply believing and responding to God’s word profited all who heard:
“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.” Luke 5:5-6
“Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked…” John 5:8-9
Anytime you open your Bible to read, decide that you will believe God and respond to his word despite what you feel or what the world believes.
