“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” John 14:17

Isn’t it amazing that Jesus didn’t say we would receive the Spirit of God because we see him? This means our difference from the world isn’t really marked by physical observation, the Bible already tells us:
“…the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be…” 1 John 3:1-2
While we walk on this earth, God doesn’t want us to live by our physical senses but by his word, be more excited about what you know in the word than what you see in the world, Jesus remarked the same thing here:
“Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20
Be committed to this. Listen to David:
“Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.” Psalms 119:127
“I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.” Psalms 119:14
His delight over God’s word was more than his delight over riches or fine gold, and it’s not some form of pretentious behavior. The word is greater, finer and better than all and choosing to side with him against the world is a remarkable win!
