“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” John 14:17

Pay attention to this exhortation:
“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13
When he says watch, he means be sober and vigilant, giving no place to the devil- 1 Peter 5:8-9
He also means watch in anticipation of the coming of our Lord- Mark 13:35-37.
He exhorts us to stand fast in the faith- simply put, stick to the word and plan to go nowhere- your knowledge of the word must influence your perspective concerning any thing that happens in your life and in the world.
He said quit being a man, he had remarked earlier:
“…are ye not carnal, and walk as men?” 1 Corinthians 3:3
Stop walking like men; the natural man. Don’t be carnal!
“…that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.” Luke 16:15
He didn’t give any leeway for nuances or grey areas, Jesus was very clear, and so it matters how you perceive yourself- choose to be spiritual, full of faith and despite the ridicule you’d receive from the world, he exhorts you to be strong! “…be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 2:1
If they point out weakness, remember this:
“…My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness…” 2 Corinthians 12:9
