“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.”
1 Corinthians 3:1
He tells there are two sets of people in Christ- the spiritual and the carnal, also referred to as the babes in Christ. He also shows us that there is a level of communication only those who are spiritual can understand. The carnal Christian still behaves like an unbeliever, he walks as every other man, not conscious that being in Christ, he is a new creation and a partaker of the divine nature:
“For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?” 1 Corinthians 3:3
The problem is, no person should remain a babe forever- either naturally or spiritually, and especially the Christian; the consequence of remaining carnal is grave:
“For to be carnally minded is death…” Romans 8:6
There are really no options in this- you have to grow as a Christian and become spiritual, else, contrary to the life you have received, you would experience darkness, confusion and sickness in your life; all expressions of death.
