“I am a stranger in the earth: Hide not thy commandments from me.” Psalm 119:19
What remarkable thoughts from David, he said he was a stranger on the earth and he knew that God’s word was the only guide and lead he required.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105
If you are new in an environment, you’d require a guide to show you round, to ensure you don’t make mistakes, you relate with people, speak and do things the right way.
As a Christian, you are not of this world- you are a stranger on the earth and a pilgrim:
“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;” 1 Peter 2:11
And your sole sure guide is the word of God; imagine be guided by the owner of the house around his property, you can be rest assured that you are guided right. The world was made by the word- only he can guide you right.
