“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
1John 1:7

What if you made a mistake as a child of God, would you be booted out of that fellowship with God? No.
He says:
“…we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
If you walk in the light, as he is in the light, then where would there be room for mistakes? You would make a mistake if you understand a matter differently or have lesser than expected abilities to perform a task, all of those options ruled out by the very thought that you can have fellowship with God.
You only fellowship with beings that are of the same class with you; spiritual, intellectual and physical and if God is saying you can fellowship with him, that means he has made you of the same class, in fact, you are his child, even now:
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God…”  1John 3:2
“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature…”  2Peter 1:4
He says those promises have already been given unto us; the promise of eternal life is ours already, the promise of the Holy Spirit is ours already, if we have his life and his spirit and his name, then the next sentence makes a lot of sense; we have become “…partakers of the divine nature…” and as we submit to the word of God, we would manifest righteousness in everything that concern us, because in actual fact, we have been “…made the righteousness of God in him.”  2Corinthians 5:21
