We had yet another impactful time on Wednesday learning about the Superiority of the Word of God. The key scripture was taken from Matthew 4:4 where the devil showed up and tempted Jesus to turn stone to bread to prove that he was truly the Son of God as affirmed by God in the previous chapter. “…this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” Matthew 3:16.

Jesus’ response remains God’s standard for us to live by, “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” Pastor showed us that in responding, Jesus left emphasising that man should not live by bread alone to emphasizing living by the word of God and requiring nothing in addition to it. Jesus did not need any external validation or physical occurence to convince him that he was truly the Son of God. All he needed was that word that came from God. Living by the Word of God alone is sufficient. The Word of God is the sole ingredient for your life. God’s plan and expectation is for man to live his life by the Word and anyone who is ignorant of the Word of God has not started living.

Pastor enlightened us on how just as he did to Jesus, it is characteristic of the devil to always use every opportunity to challenge the word of God that we have received and believed. Pastor also showed us how such temptations come in form of thoughts or people seeking to see proofs that the word of God is true in our life. However, Jesus’ response shows us how to respond. We ought to affirm that the Word of God is our reality without trying to prove to the devil or anyone. Physical validations can change but the Word of God remains the same. God’s word is Truth, God’s word is God’s wisdom, God’s word knows all things, made all things and has the ability to create. Take up God’s word, hinge yourself steadfastly on it and shut your eyes against any opposition.

It does not matter what your results in school, business or life may look like, it has no bearing on the word of God concerning your success and prosperity. You have a sound mind, you are prosperous, you cannot fail. It does not matter that you feel pain in your body, it does not invalidate God’s word about your health. When you are pressed or challenged, don’t start looking for physical validations to prove God’s word. Stay in God’s word irrespective of the challenge. Knowing that God’s word can guarantee your future, make studying the Word of God your priority and live by it everyday.
