It’s still our glorious month of Meditation and on Sunday, we went deeper in learning about the power of meditation. Pastor made us understand that meditation is like chewing food in order to enjoy all of its goodness and many times, there are glorious things in God’s word we would only get to see and experience when we spend time meditating on it.
We learnt that throughout the word of God, He gave men differing tasks along with the strategy they needed to accomplish those tasks. For Gideon, God’s strategy was for him to defeat the midianites as one man but he was afraid and so God had three hundred men help him out, Moses didn’t need three hundred men, all he needed was a stick and his hands to perform wonders, we also saw that a rock was all David needed to defeat Goliath, Pastor however pointed us to one man who God gave an instruction with a strategy that points to a very important principle, in Joshua 1:8, God charged him to not let the book of the law depart from his mouth; God was teaching Joshua that he was not just to know the Law but he was to say it everytime because change is caused by spoken words, he was also instructed to meditate on the word day and night – with the result that he would be guided and pushed into prosperity.
This same principle applies to us, God wants us to continually keep his word on our lips and in our minds, and if we would do so, we would be showered into prosperity suddenly. It may initially seem like nothing is happening but if we keep to it, things will change suddenly in due time and while others are wondering at the sudden turn of events, we would know that it is as a result of our meditating on God’s word. Pastor went on to explain that when we burst into prosperity suddenly, we would require wisdom, intelligence and prudence to maintain and navigate the prosperity, and that is what God means when he says we would have good success. Pastor mentioned that this is the breakthrough many are seeking for, and if only they would meditate on God’s word, they would not only experience a breakthrough but will also be equipped to handle and maintain it.
Pastor went on to read from 1 Timothy 4:15 where we are equally instructed to meditate on and give ourselves completely to the word of God, Pastor explained that this is what He means when He says we should not let the word depart out of our mouth; the word of God must be constantly in our mouth and he says, when we do so, our profiting will become obvious to all. Pastor led us in meditating on the word of God in Psalm 23:1-6 and what a glorious time of fellowship we had with the powerful words in that portion of scripture. Halleluyah!
