“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”  
1 Corinthians 14:2

Clearer words could not have been spoken. The word of God tells you how to speak to God and ‘shutout’ men; speak in tongues.
When you have decisions to make, projects to execute etc. why bother speaking to men that do not have a full grasp of the past, are still trying to handle the present and cannot ascertain the future? When the situation at hand is important to you, then it’s time to speak to God!
You become like the one you spend more time with; more time talking to. The more time you spend talking to God, the stronger your expression of his life becomes.
Do not mind if others make fun of you because they can’t understand your tongue, he already said one sign that you’re talking right is “…no man understandeth him…”, even when satan tries to get you to doubt yourself because you can’t understand what you’re saying, remember “… no man understandeth him…” applies to you also.
Here’s the excitement, a supposed lack of understanding doesn’t nullify the effectiveness of what is being said, he said even if no man understands you in the natural, relax, in the spirit, you are talking mysteries; as you communicate with God, the mystery about your job, family, ministry is communicated to your spirit by the Spirit of God.
“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”  1 Corinthians 2:10
Why delay now, when you can talk to God!
