“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,”
He continues:
“Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” Titus 2:12
Living soberly, righteously and godly lives is possible and expected of you in this present world, he already delivered you from the evil and corruption in the world:
“Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:” Galatians 1:4
“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:4
His expectation is that you hold forth the word of life and shine as lights in the midst of gross darkness:
“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life…” Philippians 2:15-16
Here is the encouragement: even if you are surrounded by crookedness and perversion, you can and ought to shine as lights; you ought to remain blameless and harmless- these are the marks of the sons of God, and you are one of them.
