“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.”
1 Peter 4:7
“Use hospitality one to another without grudging.” 1 Peter 4:9
He emphasizes expressing love amongst the household of faith because the time is short.
The first thing the Spirit of God brings into your life when you receive him is love! Jesus said:
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…” Acts 1:8
But when he came, what he deposited in you was the love of God!
“…the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:5
Love is the substance of that power Jesus talked about: love causes that change and love never fails!
He said:
“May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” Ephesians 3:18-19
That verse is no surprise, it is your knowledge of the dimensions of God’s love and your walking in that knowledge that would cause you to be fully filled with all the fullness of God.
He says the end of all things is at hand so:
Love broadly; don’t discriminate, God loved the world, nobody is too bad for you to love; that is the breadth of his love.
Love, and never put a time to its end, nothing should stop your expression of love, your love towards others should outlast time; he loves you with an eternal love, that is the length of his love.
Love deeply, be deliberate about your expressions of love and there should be no expression too high for you to show; he gave himself for the world WHILE they were yet sinners – that was the depth and height of his love!
In all of that, he emphasizes showing that fervent love to the brethren!
“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10
