“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:25

God has a purpose for our assembling together, he called the church:
“But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”  1 Timothy 3:15
And when we come together, he is present and he wants us to leave better, not for the worse:
“Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.”  1 Corinthians 11:17
So he said:
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”  Ephesians 4:12
We come to get equipped for the work of the ministry and we come to be edified with and by the word of God. This means going to the house of God is not some religious exercise we must perform so God would be pleased with us, he set up the institution for our benefit; he’s always thinking about your destiny; and he wants to bring you to an expected end on the earth; holy, without blemish and free of spot or wrinkle and his plan was when you congregate in his house, you would be constantly edified and equipped to walk in righteousness. (Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 5:27)
So there’s a plan for your growth every week, he says you would be edified in his house, and there’s a surety for your walking in righteousness all your life; he says our assembly would guard against you being hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Never miss a gathering.
