“For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:”  
1Peter 3:10

Jesus said:
“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.”  Mark 8:35
Lose your life for his sake and the gospel to save it.
He says himself and the gospel have become your life:
“When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”  Colossians 3:4
As a Christian, you have not started living the best way if you are too distracted by the world or other things that you are yet to be focused on the one who matters and letting him decide all of the factors in your life:
“…whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”  James 4:4
There are people who separate aspects of their life- academics, finances, emotional; all of that and decisions pertaining those they gain from mentors outside the church asides their spiritual life- which to them primarily entails not offending God.
Jesus said, his life being your life is the beginning of living, the gospel being the compelling force in every decision you make, is the beginning of living.
You want to live life and see good days don’t you? Let Jesus and his gospel be the determinants for your choice of a career, place to stay, who to marry, what to say, where to travel etc.
