Halleluyah!

We had yet another awesome service today gaining greater insight into our oneness with the Lord.

Pastor started by reminding us that as individuals, we are important to God, more important to him than we are to even our family and friends. Jesus illustrated this in the parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15:1-7 showing us that inspite of the massive population of people in the world, each one of us is uniquely important to God. We were made to understand that by giving Jesus for our sake, God proved that we are worth the blood of his Son, knowing this, we should not compare ourselves to others, instead we should realise that we are unique to him and vital in his plan. Our response should be to give him our attention knowing that his eyes are always on us.

Moving into the crux of the message, Pastor read from 1 Corinthians 15:45,

“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit”.

Naturally, every man traces his root to Adam – the first kind of man, for another kind of man, the last Adam to exist, there must have been a regeneration. The first man, Adam died in the garden, the last man, Jesus resurrected in a garden to die no more, the first man could be affected by death, the last man came out victoriously from death never to be affected by death again and this applies to every man who is in Christ, he becomes a new creature, born after the last man, Jesus.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17

This new creature has his genealogy linked to God and no longer to Adam – “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” 1 John 4:4

Pastor went on to show us that Adam and those born after him were earthy – natural, having no spiritual understanding and only relating to life based on their sense organs but now, there are those of us who are heavenly; whose genealogy is traced to Jesus, the word of God says the second man is the lord from heaven, likewise we who are born after the second man came from heaven.

“Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly” 1 Corinthians 15:46-48

In explaining how we came from heaven, Pastor read from John 6:38-42, Jesus recognised and proclaimed that he came from heaven, however, the Jews countered him because they knew he was born of a woman.

“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me…The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven”

Pastor explained that this is exactly how the mind of some Christians work when they are brought to the consciousness of their divinity, they find it hard to accept because they are concious of their physical entrance into the world. Jesus was born of a woman just as every person in the world is, but his birth was without the help of a man, the seed that produced him came from the word that Angel Gabriel delivered to Mary when he appeared to her. By believing, she received the word from heaven and immediately conceived Jesus in her womb. For as many of us that are Christians, we were born into the world of a woman with the help of a man but the moment we received the good news from heaven, the gospel of salvation and believed it, that old man died and we became new creations born of an incorruptible seed, born of the same word of God that birthed Jesus as we see in 1 Peter 1:23. Just like Jesus, we can now say we came down from heaven because we were born of the word of God from heaven.

In concluding the message, Pastor admonished us that God wants us to be conscious of who we are, he wants us to be aware that we are an invasion of divinity in this world; man has always expected an invasion – aliens from outer space like a superman from krypton and this is evident in the kind of movies and content they create, however just like the Jews had a different expectation of the Messiah that was far different from the person of Jesus, the world today is yet to realise that Christians are the fulfilment of that expectation. The word of God says we received power when the Holy Spirit came upon us, we came from heaven with super powers, with faith which can move mountains, with the ability to lay hands on the sick and get them to recover, God wants us to realize this, he wants to know who we are and to live in that reality.
