The month of November started on a glorious note for us at Love Haven Church as we participated in a special communion service with Pastor Ebi tagged, “Jesus wants you wealthy”.

Pastor made us understand that God gave us his word to influence what we believe and thereby influence our experiences in life because our lives are a result of the information we have heard and received, everything we believe that has influenced our choices and decision, we first heard somewhere or from someone, and if we would live quality lives, we should hear quality words. Pastor charged us to be mindful of the words we hear, the friends we keep and reminded us that the reason we come to church is to hear God’s word and influence our lives thereby, Pastor then declared that November is the month of Overflow and everyone of us in the auditorium received that word with joy and expectations.

Pastor begin to teach on the subject of the day showing us in the scriptures that God’s desire is for everyone of his children to be wealthy, she emphasised that no where in the word does God give the impression that poverty is something to be reckoned with, she showed us how many have read certain portions of the scripture and come to the wrong conclusions without reading the full passages.

She read the story of the rich young ruler who Jesus instructed to sell his properties, give to the poor, have treasure in heaven and follow him (Mark 10:21-30), the man walked away sorrowful because he had great possessions, Pastor reminded us that every thing on earth has a spiritual source and so for anyone who has treasures in heaven, it is bound to reflect on the earth, if the rich man had waited to listen to the complete message, he would have realised that God was not calling him to a life of poverty but to a life of receiving much more as he followed him, Pastor showed us that for everyone who leaves anything to follow Jesus, God’s design is that they would receive an hundred fold now in this world.

“And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” Mark 10:29-30

Pastor took us through various instances in the bible where Jesus provided surplus showing us God’s attitude to blessing us, he fed five thousand men to their full and there was surplus left over, he gave Peter a surplus cash of fish such that the boats began to sink, we saw from this incident that one word from God can give you in a second what you have struggled for so long to get, because he is God.

“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.” John 21:15

Jesus asked Peter this question after the miraculous supply of fishes, he wanted Peter to know that he could give him more than he needed but his focus was where Peter’s heart was, God’s question to everyone of us now remains the same, he wants to know if we love him more than all the things he is willing and able to give to us, he wants our heart to be with him and to not only be concerned about our desires, his instruction to us is to seek first his kingdom and in doing so, every other thing will be added to us.

Pastor concluded that God is ever ready for us, able and ready to embarrass us with all we could ever want but he is searching our hearts to know if we are ready for him or if we choose every other thing over him, but if we choose him over everything, he guarantees that whatever we may have left for him, he is obligated to give us more.
