Glory! Glory!! Glory!!!

Indeed, God’s word is a tool for improvement and this was our experience in today’s service, the word of God that we received set us on a course of rapid irreversible improvement.

Pastor started by exhorting us on the power of paying attention to the word of God and how that by doing so, we can easily gain the attention of the Spirit of God. As an example, she referred to the crippled man at Lystra who simply by listening and paying attention to Paul’s preaching got the attention of the Spirit to his case and received a miracle.

Pastor further remarked that our response to situations is usually based on the information we have, she mentioned that if God told us about any challenge ahead or if we truly believed God knows about it, we would have a confident outlook and approach to it. She made us understand that indeed, God has spoken to us about every challenge and showed us what he has said;

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”

Ephesians 6:13-14

The word of God instructs us to remain standing when the evil day comes, to not allow the situation affect our position or change our confession. Pastor mentioned that faith is a position and irrespective of the circumstance, we ought to stand fast in that position, unmoved. She showed us what God expects of our attitude to challenges with the example of Moses and the children of Israel at the red sea, God chided Moses for asking them to stop and instead instructed them to keep moving forward, he did not expect them to stop or alter their movement because of the seeming challenge, as seen in the life of Jesus, his ultimate plan was for them to have walked on the water. In the same vein, He instructs us to remain standing inspite of challenges, he tells us that greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. Pastor charged us to stand and never give way no matter what the challenge is, God knew the challenge was coming and that is his instruction to us.

Pastor then read from John 8:43;

“Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.”

The word “speech” refers to communication while “word” means logos; revelation, she explained from this scripture that when the word of God impacts us, our communication changes such that those who do not have the same revelation will not be able to understand us and our manner of communication. Pastor mentioned that two people may be going through similar challenges yet one’s communication is different based on the revelation he has while the other cannot understand his communication. The Jews could not understand Jesus’ communication because they did not know his revelation. Pastor charged us to never allow our communication be based on observation but rather on revelation, and to never talk based on what we see but based on what we know from God’s word. Pastor also advised us to not get angry or despise others when they do not understand our communication because it has not been revealed to them as it has to us.

In concluding, Pastor shared how Jesus responded when the Pharisees accused him of bearing record of himself. Even though he was in Israel, he had called himself the light of the world and they were having none of it.

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.” John 8:14

Jesus refused to let anyone dictate the boundaries of his communication because he had a revelation of where he came from and where he was going. Knowing where we come from and where we are going to, we ought to boldly declare God’s word concerning us without caring what others would say or think. Pastor made us understand that contrary to what the world expects, we should not wait for anyone to bear record of us, instead, we bear record of ourselves according to the word of God and in doing so, we move ourselves to where we are going to.

Pastor concluded by showing us that Jesus had several opportunities to die but he refused to give in to death until it was his time according to the scriptures, with this, she showed us how to think and respond whenever we are faced with any challenge, she charged us to refuse to give in to any challenge antithetical to the word of God concerning our lives.
