Listen to Jesus:
“And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” Mark 10:29-30
An hundredfold, now in this time! What a promise!! But he repurposes your desires, not to these things but to the gospel and him, so much that you are willing to path with them to follow him BUT when you do, these are the promises he assures you of.
It is not vanity to serve God and while we know that we are better placed in the world to come, Jesus leaves us with a promise for this time. You don’t choose one and despise the other: 1 Timothy 6:3-4
