When you got born again, you became a new creation in Christ Jesus and he tells you to behold that all things are new:
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Meaning, realize things have changed and begin to see, think and behave differently, that will happen when you renew your mind with the word of God; you replace your old way of thinking with the word of God, afterall as a new creation, you are born of the word:
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:23
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:22-24
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2
As you renew your mind with the word of God, the word of God would become the sole content of your desires and he tells you, in Christ, with your mind renewed via the word of God abiding you, whatever desires you have would be done for you.
God wants to give you the desires of your heart, and he begins by ultimately influencing the desires of your heart to be his word.
