“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”
2 Peter 1:3
“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2Peter 1:4
Only the word of God could have told us such glorious things about ourselves and be correct!
He said we have been given all things that concerns life (no more lack or worries) and godliness (no more excuse for unrighteousness).
He said we have been called to glory (the glorious life is your inheritance, a life of shame does not have your name on it) and virtue (superiority and excellence- you become the expression of God’s best everywhere you find yourself).
He said we have been given promises (that means the substance of those promises are yours already), and he characterizes them as EXCEEDING GREAT (meaning greatness is not good enough to quantify them) and PRECIOUS (much sort after).
He said he gave us all these things so we can actively participate in and live out easily the divine nature we have received! This is not a nature that causes shame.
He said we have escaped the corruption (“death-lines”)that is in the world, meaning any rumor of spoilage, destruction, epidemic and all the other atrocities has nothing to do with you, you have escaped from that mess- you are now in a different place- Christ.
Halleluyah!
