“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
John 12:26
When Jesus met Peter after he resurrected, there was a remarkable dialogue:
“…lovest thou me more than these?“
“…Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee.”
“…Feed my lambs.” John 21:15
And he followed up Peter’s answer by giving him a responsibility, he showed that one way to prove your love for him was to serve him, and notice what he inferred;
You don’t feed his lamb, because you love the lamb, or you have a burden for the flock but because you LOVE HIM; it is your love for him that should primarily propel you to serve:
“For the love of Christ constraineth us…” 2 Corinthians 5:14
So even when the “flock” seem thankless or probably not forthcoming, you remain unmoved. He also said:
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15
Truly, there is no true service without keeping to the word. If you love Jesus, you would lose your life for him, follow him and be committed to his word!
