“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
John 12:26
Jesus had multitudes move around with him- those fascinated and his detractors alike- but what was more important to him were disciples:
“And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he CANNOT BE MY DISCIPLE.” Luke 14:25-26
He saw the numbers, but that really meant little to him compared to those willing to lose it all for him; you should find yourself in the second category.
“That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles…” 1 Peter 4:2-3
Even today, there are many people who like Jesus, who would be found where he is being talked about, but what’s more important to him are those who would live their lives FOR HIM.
“And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:27
