“So be imitators of God, as his dear children.”
Ephesians 5:1, ISV
Here’s an instruction he expects you to keep. The question then becomes: ‘Where is God?’ maybe if you knew where he was, you’d go look at him and imitate everything you see him do. Jesus asked before his death:
“Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me…” John 17:24
So he wanted us to be where he ‘would be’- firstly, and he already stated where that would be:
“…I leave the world, and go to the Father.” John 16:28
And the purpose of that desire is so that we could ‘behold his glory’, the next question would be- to what purpose?
“…we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” 1 John 3:2
” we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
When you behold, you are changed. Good news is, we are with the father now:
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
Jesus is the word of God and as we behold that perfect law of liberty, there’s a transformation [2 Corinthians 3:18], then he tells us to imitate him- imitate the word. Look at this:
“And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.” Luke 22:51
Can it be that people offend you and you still go ahead and be kind and helpful to them? Yes, it can because you’d keep the instruction and imitate him.
