“As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:”  1 Peter 1:14

In the main verse, he calls us obedient children and tells us what he expects as fruits of our obedience- that we do not fashion ourselves according to the former lusts – those lusts don’t define us neither should they compel us; if your response to uncomfortable news was to get worried and complain before you got born again, he says don’t do that anymore, the desire might be strong, but don’t be compelled by it, instead transform your life.
There are people who always tend to compare their former life- way of doing things, friends, behavior with their new life in Christ; while they’re thankful for the salvation of their soul, anytime they get uncomfortable or upset, they remember their old manner of life- and the Bible says:
“And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.”  Hebrews 11:15
When you got born again, things did change:
“And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”  1 Corinthians 6:11
Leave that old way of doing things- leave it for the devil and embrace the word of God, it doesn’t matter how pressed you are to talk, cry or complain like you used to- you are bigger and have a more fruitful response given you by the word of God!
