It’s our month of Change and we all attended Sunday service with high expectations to be changed by God’s word knowing that the word of God is God’s tool for causing changes.

Pastor began to preach showing us that one thing God wanted us to have immediately we got born again is the ability to cause changes, when Jesus walked on the earth, he acted like he could change anything; he changed water to wine and he responded when he was called upon to attend to sick or dead persons because he believed he could cause a change, Pastor reminded us that Jesus is our prime example and before he ascended, he said;

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8

When we received the Holy Spirit, we received power which is the ability to cause changes. Pastor went on to show us that there are two variants of power; there is the power that refers to physical strength and there is the power that is beyond and more effective than physical strength, Pastor illustrated this with instances of when those in authority use words to exercise power over those who may have more physical strength than them, an example is when the president of the country speaks words that influences every other person in the country regardless of their physical strength because he has a higher form of power that can cause national changes.

When we got born again, there was no significant increase in our physical strength as a result but we received the right to use the name of Jesus, just as the President of a nation can speak and cause a change within the nation, we can speak as the president of our lives and cause changes in our lives, families, bodies and everything that concerns us and while the president’s authority is limited to this physical space, we have spiritual authority and we can cause changes in the realm of the spirit that would affect our lives in the physical realm.

“Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.” Proverbs 6:2

The word of God shows us that people set traps for themselves with the words that they speak, Pastor reminded us that one of the first things a child has to learn to do is to communicate else they won’t be able to express their desires and would have to have others make their choices for them, similarly, God wants us to learn to communicate right because in doing so, we decide the boundaries of our experience and nothing can happen to us by chance.

Pastor charged us that just as some trap themselves in the wrong things, we can trap ourselves in the right experiences, through speaking the right words, we can be trapped in prosperity, in favour, in goodness, in health and in safety, she taught us to change the way we talk to change our experiences.
