“And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.”  1 John 1:4 

He says there  are treasures that when we see, we would be excited and full of joy: 
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”  1 John 1:5 
God is light and in him is no darkness at all! Darkness means confusion, darkness means ignorance. In a dark room, it would be difficult for one to find his way through the room without hitting obstacles, when the light is turned on, his path becomes clear! He can easily understand the way the room is arranged and walk through with ease! 
He says God is light, in him, you would understand life and how to navigate life, if you were hit suddenly by bad news- in him is light, the situation- source and end of it- would be exposed to you and you can navigate your way in victory! 
What might seem as darkness for the world, when it meets the one in Christ, it becomes flooded with light! They say that cancer can not be cured? In Christ we know that: 
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;”  Philippians 2:9-10 
That means nobody or nothing with a big or scary name can intimidate or confuse you, you already have a name that is above every name! Now you walk in victory always!
