“But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.”
1 Timothy 5:6

Living life isn’t spending your days satisfying your cravings or trying to prove that you’re better or more successful than someone else- the end would be dissatisfaction, emptiness and even death.
Jesus is the word of God, and he called himself life (John 14:6, 11:25)- the word of God is life:
“My son, attend to my words… For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” Proverbs 4:20, 22
So living life is living according to God’s word, every other thing is really- no matter how grandiose- a waste of time. No wonder, in comparing, he makes clear it is the one who does the word that will remain forever: 1 John 2:17
Because it is the word that endures forever:
“For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:24-25
So why be in a haste to prove a point? Why pretend that you are committed to the word when you have no time for him? Why not consult the word and walk in righteousness only?
