“The people which sat in darkness Saw great light; And to them which sat in the region and shadow of death Light is sprung up.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬

The Bible says, the people who sat in darkness, saw a great light- look at how our wonderful Jesus lived the life he expects us to live! He had told us:
“Let your light so shine before men…” Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬
And he did just that, the people (men) SAW a GREAT light, but then we see that their seeing the light was beyond their being physically illuminated- they were being spiritually delivered, because they sat in darkness, they sat in the region and shadow of death- they were captive in a place where they could have been affected by death at any given time and were victims of the expressions of death until Jesus showed up, shone and they were delivered.
Doing greater works goes beyond you, it is about delivering those in the region and shadow of death, but if you don’t shine, they’d remain seated in darkness.
