“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25
He continues:
“Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” Galatians 5:26
Walking in the spirit entails despising vain glory; the glory and honor of men, those who seek such cannot please God because they cannot believe and without faith, it is impossible to please him:
“How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?” John 5:44
Paul also described similar attributes as traits of a carnal Christian those who are not spiritual:
“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?” 1 Corinthians 3:1,3
Where you have envy and easy provocations leading to strife, then someone is not walking in the spirit but very sensual irrespective of how deep or spiritual that person may seem or sound.
“For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” James 3:16
In Luke 7:35, Jesus said wisdom is justified by her children- her results, any wisdom that produces strife and envy is not from above.
