“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”
John 15:10
If you love God, you would love the brethren:
“If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” 1 John 4:20, see also, 1 John 2:9
But first, you must love God— your loving others springs from the fact that you love the Lord and you are committed to doing what he asked you to in John 15:12, just as his love for the world, shown in the sacrifice of himself on that cross sprung from the fact that he loved God, as he said in John 14:31.
But he gives the standard:
“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me…” John 14:21
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words… He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings…” John 14:23-24
Loving him isn’t in speech, but in committing yourself to keeping his word- find out what he has said and do it!
You esteem his word as your one and only, that is the proof that you love him and that becomes the reason why you do the things you do-
Why you love others: John 15:12
Why you give: Luke 6:30
Why you are forgiving: Luke 6:36
