“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”
John 15:10
In the main verse, he emphasizes how we would remain in his love- if we keep his commandments, and always remember, everything Jesus said was a commandment from God:
“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.” John 12:49, see also John 14:24b
And so you would remain in his love, when you keep his words- committing yourself to doing God’s word is for your own benefit.
What would life be like for the one who basks and abides in God’s love?
That love that spared nothing for us, that love that has everything we could ever require!
“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32
No wonder Jesus spoke and did only what God commanded, and we see his life- a resplendent expression of God’s glory; he wishes the same for you: John 17:22
