“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”
John 15:10
Isn’t it amazing that Jesus never asked us to do what he wouldn’t? The Bible tells us he knew he was living his life as an example for us:
“For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” John 13:15
“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:” 1 Peter 2:21
And here is further emphasis: James 1:13
And so when he told us this: Luke 6:29
When it came to, he didn’t fight back: John 19:3, 24
When he told us these: Matthew 6:1,5
When it came to, he did this: Mark 1:35, John 13:28-29
And so when he told us this:
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” John 15:12
It meant we would receive the capacity to love others, the way he loves them and we would be filled with the fullness of God- Ephesians 3:19, just as he left us an example: John 15:9.
All of these leads to the glorious consummation of our oneness with him and our walking in his fullness! 1 Corinthians 6:17.
