“But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;”

Ephesians 5:3

Look at what he says:

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” 1 John 3:1

We are children of God- even now, and the word used for children is the Greek ‘teknon’ which means, children that are born of a parent not adopted children, like we know in modern terms. The word adoption plattered throughout the epistles is not similarly interpreted as the one we are used to in our society today, it is from the Greek ‘huiotesia’:

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15

It means ‘a state of being trained as sole inheritor and administrator’, for example David had many sons- ‘teknons’, but he had one adopted son- huios; Solomon, the one who was to be King; inheritor of the throne and administrator of the country.

“For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.” Proverbs 4:3

So as a Christian, you are born of God and are expected to reign just like him, you are an heir of God after all, but here’s what he says of all born of God:

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4

You have overcome the world- and all that is in it:

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:16

These things cannot have the dominion over you, they have been rendered ‘subdueable’ by Jesus on your behalf:

“…be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

This is the reality!
