It’s our Month of Greatness. Halleluyah!

The word of God to us for this month of August brought so much excitement into our spirits, knowing the integrity of God’s word, we are confident that it will indeed be a month of greatness for us on every side.

Pastor began to show us that the concept of greatness does not only obtain here on the earth but also in the kingdom of God. Every christian is of the same class; the class of divinity but in that class, there are ranks, there are those that are great in the kingdom of God and there are those that are least, the good news is that greatness in God’s kingdom is not by appointment, there are things that we can do to achieve greatness and every christian can decide to be great in God’s kingdom and begin to take steps in that direction.

Reading from Luke 7:28 and Matthew 25:40, Pastor showed us that there is he that is least in the kingdom of God, however, as Jesus said, the least in the kingdom of God is greater than the greatest unbeliever. Pastor went on to show that the requirement for greatness in the Kingdom of God is service;

“But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:25-28

God prioritises those who serve as great in his kingdom, Jesus illustrated this before he died by washing the feet of his disciples laying an example of service for us to follow, every Christian can choose to be great by choosing to serve, doing God’s work.

“And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.”Luke 22:24-27

The word of God tells us that our more important parts are hidden and uncomely; not beautiful to behold, likewise, those that serve may not appear beautiful to behold but God considers them more important. Pastor charged us never to be discouraged in our service nor allow others talk us out of our service knowing that our service is to God and not to man.

Pastor also taught us on the need to be converted and be as little children in attaining greatness in God’s sight as seen in Jesus’ response when his disciples asked him a question concerning the greatest in the kingdom of God. God knows we were once children and we grew to become adults but he wants us to be converted to little children having no care, trusting and not losing sight of the truth that it is the same God who took care of us as children that still takes care of us. To receive the things of and enjoy all of the benefits of God’s kingdom, we need to be converted as little children, not worried about tomorrow but trusting in God, because we are his children and this is what he desires.

“At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 18:1-4

Pastor reiterated that we should always be conscious that all of our services and actions are to God and not to man, she instructed us not to do things because of people but because the word of God says we should, that way, we remain humble as children inspite of external influences. When we serve in God’s house, we may not be respected on the earth but we are respected in God’s kingdom and among the angels of God and that is what really matters

In concluding the message, Pastor showed us how Jesus was always conscious of his Father and constantly spoke of him pointing to his child-likeness in dealing with his Father. Pastor admonished us to have the same attitude, accept the word of God as a child and always be available for service in God’s House.
