“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”
James 3:17

Just like he told us what love is not before telling us what it is in 1 Corinthians 13; he makes clear to us what is not the wisdom of God being expressed before giving us measures with which we can discern the wisdom of God. He said:
“But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” James 3:14-16
Two major sources of every evil work are envy and strife; and any counsel that springs from and causes envy or strife is earthly- it is typical of men from the earth to give such wisdom (counsel), sensual- such wisdom satisfies the five senses, devilish- such wisdom is ultimately inspired by the devil and would further his purposes.
The satisfaction of your feelings should not be the ultimate guide or determinant for the counsel you choose to follow; doing that which is well pleasing to the Lord- being inspired by and expressing the wisdom which is from above should be your utmost desire.
