“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”
James 3:17

He gives an indistinguishable criteria with which we can discern the wisdom that is from above and that which is not.
The wisdom from above is first pure; if its offspring isn’t pure, doesn’t inspire purity- it is not from above. Jesus said:
“But wisdom is justified of all her children.” Luke 7:35
Wisdom that is pure and its results conjure purity is from above- that is the first expression of God’s wisdom. Amnon raped his half sister Tamar because his friend, Jonadab, counselled that he should; the counsel might have given him satisfaction- but it was neither pure nor did it conjure pure actions; that counsel was not from God. [ 2 Samuel 13:1-20]
An advice might produce seeming desirable results, might satisfy the cravings of the flesh, but if it is not pure- it is not from God.
God doesn’t want you walking in darkness or confusion, neither does he want you manipluated or manipulating others and so he gives clearly measures of the wisdom from God.
“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” Colossians 4:5
