” Memory Verse
“I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
Luke 18:14
Today’s Devotional
When you pray, think about your vibrant fellowship with God and if you must consider others; it must be about how they can excel in their vibrant fellowship with God:
"..seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church." 1 Corinthians 14:12
That’s why it wasn’t improper for the Pharisee to consider the Publican in prayer but his response should have been to intercede for him just like Jesus did for his Apostles:
"But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." Luke 22:32
The bible tells us:
"Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others." Philippians 2:4
And so because that is true, when other believers come to your mind, you want to pray for them, anticipate their furtherance and joy in the faith, this should be your outward expression towards other Christians:
"And having this confidence, / know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;" Philippians 1:25
Not comparing and contrasting why you are or should be better than them: 2 Corinthians 10:12
