” Memory Verse
“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 18:19
Today’s Devotional
He had been talking about the authority given to the church to excommunicate unrepentant and unforgiving Christians earlier on:
“And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.” Matthew 18:17
And he made a remarkable statement:
“Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 18:18
Whatever the church concluded upon on the earth is the conclusion in heaven, the agreement ratified on earth becomes the reality in the realm of the Spirit, (he had been saying the church can lose an unrepentant and unforgiving Christian away from their fold), then he continued with the main verse.
Understand the context of what he said: he was showing the power of agreement, when Christians come together to ratify a request, irrespective of what it is, as long as it is a binding request agreed by children of God, everything in heaven responds to that request and it is done.
