” Memory Verse
“For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;”
Titus 1:7
Today’s Devotional
A bishop is a leader in God’s house; he is an overseer, and watches over the flock of God. In the main verse, he lists attributes with which a bishop is to set as his standard and measure himself by. The Bible tells us:
“He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” 1 John 2:6
Jesus is God and we are expected to walk as he walked, and so we ought to follow such virtuous standards shown us in the word of God for our lives, after all we are all to make and have some oversight over the disciples we win to Christ. Look at this instruction:
“Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22
Good enough for the youthful Pastor Timothy and just as good for the elderly layman, the Bible tells us:
“Beloved, follow …that which is good. He that doeth good is of God...” 3 John 1:11.
