” Memory Verse
“For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:”
Titus 1:10
Today’s Devotional
Isn’t it amazing to know that everything Jesus expects of us, he is?
“And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.” John 17:19
He expects us to think, talk and behave differently because he is also doing likewise, and so when he asks us to make changes, it means such changes are already seen in him. In the main verse, he tells the steward of God to exhort those who have become unruly- “many”; even though many of them in the church had become unruly, it didn’t make it right.
An unruly person is someone that does his own things and usurps authority, such behavior is always frowned at by the word of God:
“The people I am talking about are behaving just like those dreamers who destroyed their own bodies. They reject all authority…” Jude 1:8, CEV
If the steward of God is to exhort against such behaviors, it means God’s steward should never be unruly but submissive to leadership; that’s a person that is truly filled with the Spirit:
“…but be filled with the Spirit… Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” Ephesians 5:18,21
