” Memory Verse
“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 18:19
Today’s Devotional
In Acts 12, the disciples prayed for Peter’s release and it was done. What about their faith? The Bible shows us that when Peter arrived their prayer point, they doubted;
“And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda. And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.” Acts 12:13-15
How come they got results irrespective? Because in the prayer of agreement, there are no conditions. If you agree to marry someone and sign the right documents, you remain married even if one person wants out UNTIL both parties come together again and sign the wrong documents.
Once an agreement has been ratified, the faith and position of one party is inconsequential unless all parties come together and make a different agreement. See the case of King Ahasuerus: Esther 8:8, even if the king had decided not to hurt the Jews, he couldn’t UNILATERALLY edit the first agreement; another agreement in response to the first had to be ratified.
