“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith excellence…”
2 Peter 1:5
Today’s Devotional
“LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.” Psalms 131:1-2
No Christian should participate in gossip or slander, even if the one who’s gossiping only says nice things about you:
“He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.” Proverbs 20:19
He tells you how to avoid them:
“The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.” Proverbs 25:23
Don’t be a scorner or walk with scorners, it will be unprofitable for you:
“A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not...” Proverbs 14:6
Don’t be engaged in such behaviors, you don’t have to be aware of that which ridicules others. What should always matter to you is how well you are measuring up to Jesus’ expectation for your life. Romans 8:29, 1 John 2:6.
