Today’s Devotional
You would think seeing Jesus walk on water was enough for them to contemplate on the miracle of the loaves, and if that wasn’t, two chapters later, he repeated the same miracle and fed over four thousand people with seven loaves and few fishes, yet their hearts were still hardened and so when they got stuck and thought they needed bread, instead of expecting a miracle- they felt they were going to starve:
“And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.” Mark 8:16
Hear Jesus’ rebuke:
“And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?” Mark 8:17
He diagnosed the root cause of their questioning- their hearts were hardened! Imagine!! They probably explained away the miracle logically instead of attributing it to the power of God- be different! Don’t explain away the grace of God that you enjoy.
