Today’s Devotional
Jesus said:
“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” John 7:24
A man of excellence looks beyond appearances and sees God and his word, irrespective of the outlook of things, he seeks to represent the will of God in that situation.
Joseph was already finished based on the outlook of things- taken as a slave to a foreign country, he could have responded carnally and gone wild- be stubborn, rebellious, steal from his master and sleep with his master’s wife; yet he looked beyond how things appeared and focused on him that was invisible:
“…how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” Genesis 39:9, see also 2 Corinthians 4:18.
…and as such lived an excellent life irrespective of the increasingly derogatory positions he occupied- slave, houseboy, prisoner. Don’t conform to the world and the outlook of circumstances in your neighborhood, office, school, environment. Be a person of excellence always happening everywhere you find yourself!
