Today’s Devotional
Hear Paul:
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:” 1 Timothy 6:20
The word has been committed to your trust, as a faithful steward, keep the word and avoid scientific oppositions to the word. Notice these oppositions didn’t start with the enlightenment era, from the days of the apostles there have always been such oppositions.
There is always that group of people who think they are too advanced to believe beyond the physical: Acts 23:8
He didn’t say go and argue, he said avoid.
“Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?” 1 Corinthians 1:20 NET
You can’t argue on the foundation of that which God has clearly made foolish: Proverbs 26:4
You can however do this: 1 Peter 3:15
And for all Paul’s arguments with the Jews- who were expecting the messiah, and the basis of the debate was that Jesus IS the messiah- he got little or nothing to show for it from the Jews: Acts 17:1-4, Acts 28:23-25
