Today’s Devotional
In the main verse he fully encapsulates Jesus’ thoughts in Mark 7:6-9: fables and commandments of men, would eventually turn their adherents from the truth. In search of the truth, it matters what you give yourself and attention to.
Jesus is the truth: John 14:6.
The word is the truth: John 17:17
Don’t be like those who eternally search, yet miss the truth right in front of them:
“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” John 5:39-40, see also Proverbs 17:24
Or dig a deeper hole for themselves.
“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:7
Get to the word and abandon stories because while on the earth, being vastly knowledgeable of all things might be applauded, only your knowledge of the word would last forever and count in eternity- so prioritize God’s word always:
“But the word of the Lord endureth for ever...” 1 Peter 1:25
