” Memory Verse
“For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;”
Titus 1:7
Today’s Devotional
Since a steward of God should not be self willed, it means even his emotions should be checked by God’s word and his desires should be overwhelmed by God’s word, because this is so, he is not soon angry because God’s word already said:
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be… slow to wrath:” James 1:19
And he is not given to wine; he should only seek being led by God’s Spirit- that is the will of God:
“Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” Ephesians 5:17-18
He should not be a striker- someone easily given to violence: that is totally opposed to the expectation of God’s word in words: Matthew 5:39
And in deed:
“And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.” John 19:2-3 see also, 1 Peter 2:23.
Set your standard to the word and live life to the fully.
